KWAM 1 Presents Daughter to Hamzat Over Lagos Assembly Ambition
Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM 1, has presented his daughter, Damilola Marshall, to Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat in a video circulating on social media, in what appeared to be a playful show of support for her political ambition.
In the footage, which circulated online on Sunday, the musician called his daughter forward before turning to Hamzat and saying, “I hand her over to you.”
Hamzat responded with laughter and gestured towards Damilola’s seat, while the lawyer appeared amused by her father’s action.
The moment, reported by The Guardian, PUNCH and QED.ng on Monday, has drawn attention to Damilola’s bid to represent Surulere Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2027 general elections.
Damilola announced her intention to contest for the seat on March 17, 2026, in a post on her Instagram page.
“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.
The lawyer said her 12 years of legal practice had strengthened her understanding of governance, justice and the needs of her community.
She also expressed her intention to represent young people and contribute to the development of the constituency if elected.
Damilola currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
According to QED.ng, she emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Surulere Constituency II following the party’s primaries in May.
Hamzat, who is the Lagos State Deputy Governor and the APC’s governorship candidate, was seen receiving KWAM 1’s gesture with amusement.
Although the exchange appeared to signal the musician’s support for his daughter’s ambition, the video does not establish any formal commitment by Hamzat to her campaign.
Damilola is seeking a seat in the state legislature ahead of the 2027 elections.
