The Ajala Rasaq and Muibat (ARM) Foundation has supported a Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Awareness Day organised by the Social Welfare Department of General Hospital, Mushin, with N800,000.

The awareness programme, held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at New State High School, Palm Avenue, Mushin, was organised in collaboration with the ARM Foundation and themed “It Ends With Us.”

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the ARM Foundation, Dr. Muibat Ajala, urged students to speak out against sexual and gender-based violence and reject all forms of violence.

Ajala assured the students that they were not alone and that support was available to them.

“We are here to let you know that you are not alone. We are with you, and Lagos State Government is also with you.”

She encouraged the students to remain focused on their future, assuring them that they could achieve greatness in their chosen fields.

“Let me assure you that you will all be great in life in your different chosen fields. One of the things that can prevent it is what we have come here to discuss.”

Ajala also urged the students to break the culture of silence by reporting incidents of violence whenever they encounter or witness them.

“When you see something and you say it, it will be addressed. Do not give yourselves to violence. There is no, no, no. Do not allow that. Such an act can destroy your life and future.”

She stressed that speaking up was important in addressing violence and protecting victims and potential victims.

The N800,000 support from the ARM Foundation was part of its contribution towards the awareness programme and efforts to promote the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence among young people.

The programme brought together students, social welfare officials and other stakeholders to raise awareness about SGBV, encourage reporting and promote safer environments for young people.
