65 Battalion Troops Dismantle Suspected Illegal Bunkering Site in Lagos, Arrest Six
Troops of the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a suspected illegal bunkering site in the Orile General Area of Lagos State and arrested six suspected oil bunkerers during an intelligence-led operation.
The operation, carried out under the leadership of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected economic saboteurs operating in the area.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division Nigerian Army, the troops successfully raided the site, leading to the arrest of six suspects.
Items recovered during the operation include four trucks, one pumping machine, and assorted pipes and drums allegedly used for illegal bunkering activities.
The statement added that the suspects, alongside the recovered exhibits, have been handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, for further investigation and other necessary actions.
Commending the troops for the successful operation, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, urged them to sustain the ongoing offensive against economic sabotage and other criminal activities within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The Nigerian Army has continued to intensify intelligence-driven operations across its formations as part of efforts to combat oil theft, illegal bunkering and other forms of economic sabotage in the country.
