UI Gets New VC
The University of Ibadan has appointed a new Vice-Chancellor ahead of the expiration of the tenure of the institution’s current leadership.
The appointment was approved by the Governing Council of the university following a selection process involving candidates from within and outside the institution.
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor is expected to assume office when the tenure of the incumbent, Professor Kayode Adebowale, ends on November 1, 2026.
UI had earlier commenced the process of appointing its 14th substantive Vice-Chancellor through an internal and external advertisement issued by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Ganiyu Saliu. The position became vacant as part of the transition arrangements for the next administration.
The appointment is expected to usher in a new phase of academic and administrative leadership at Nigeria’s premier university.
