
President Tinubu begins state visit to Paris to strengthen Nigeria-France relations

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, arrived in Paris on Wednesday evening for a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening Nigeria-France bilateral relations.
The President’s aircraft touched down at Orly Airport at approximately 5:10 p.m., where he was received with full military honors by the French Republican Guard, marking a ceremonious start to the visit.
The official agenda begins on Thursday at the historic Les Invalides, where President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu will be welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. This will be followed by a formal reception at the Palais de l'Élysée in honor of the Nigerian leader.
The visit is focused on deepening collaboration between Nigeria and France in areas such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition. Key outcomes are expected to significantly benefit Nigeria’s development agenda.
President Tinubu and President Macron are set to discuss initiatives to enhance youth exchange programs and foster skills development in automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Strategic political and economic discussions will address shared interests in finance, solid minerals, trade, and communication.
The two leaders will also participate in a session organized by the France-Nigeria Business Council, aimed at aligning private sector partnerships for economic growth.
First Lady Brigitte Macron and Senator Oluremi Tinubu will hold discussions on empowering women, children, and vulnerable populations, with a focus on advancing Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
