Lagos APC UK Caucus Holds End-of-Year Dinner, Swears in New Executives, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu

T The Lagos State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress in the United Kingdom (APC UK) on Sunday, December 21, 2025, held its End-of-Year Dinner in Bromley, London, bringing together party leaders, executives and members in a show of unity, reflection and renewed political commitment.

The well-attended event took place at Planet 224 Plus, 123–125 Masons Hill, and featured music, food and drinks in a celebratory atmosphere.

The programme commenced with a welcome address and opening remarks by the Chairman of the caucus, Honourable Tayo Shodeinde.

In his speech, Shodeinde appreciated party leaders and members for their steadfast loyalty and active participation in strengthening the APC in the diaspora. He reiterated the chapter’s pride in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the remarkable developmental progress being recorded under Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which he described as “second to none.”

The chairman also expressed his profound appreciation to the Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, for his unwavering support—financial, physical, and otherwise—as well as his immense contributions to the Lagos State APC and the party at large.

He further acknowledged the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, describing him as a steadfast ally of the Lagos State APC UK Caucus.

"Pastor Ojelabi has consistently demonstrated openness, approachability, and responsiveness to the concerns and aspirations of the caucus," he said.

The Chairman of APC UK and Chairman of the Diaspora Forum, Honourable Tunde Doherty, delivered a detailed presentation on “The Impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the Diaspora.”

Doherty outlined how the administration’s policies are reshaping diaspora engagement, investment opportunities and national image abroad. He noted that Nigerians in the diaspora have a critical role to play in supporting governance reforms and national development initiatives.

Dr Philip Edewor, spoke on politics in general, drawing from past experiences and highlighting the challenges facing political organisation and participation. He emphasized the need for discipline, unity and strategic thinking within party structures, especially among diaspora chapters, to ensure long-term relevance and impact.

The third keynote address was delivered by Hon Felix Ajayi Speaking on the topic “The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: What It Means and the Progress in Lagos State,” Ajayi explained the policy direction of the Tinubu administration and its implications for governance, economic stability and national development.

He highlighted Lagos State as a model of continuity and performance, noting that the reforms and infrastructural growth in the state clearly reflect the broader vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ajayi further commended Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for sustaining developmental momentum in critical sectors such as transportation, housing, health and education. He urged APC members in the diaspora to remain consistent advocates of the party’s achievements and to continue engaging constructively in national development from abroad.

A major highlight of the evening was the swearing-in of two executive members into the Lagos State APC UK leadership.

Honourable Alhaja Gbemisola Ademola was officially sworn in as Women Leader, while Honourable Alhaja Aolat Tomi Sule was sworn in as Vice Chairwoman, Central. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Honourable Ladi Vera Cruz, drawing applause from party members who described the development as a boost to inclusiveness and organisational strength within the chapter.

The event was attended by several prominent party leaders and executives, including Tunde Doherty, APC UK Chairman and Chairman of the Diaspora Forum; Dr. Philip Edewor, former APC UK Chairman and former Chairman of the Diaspora Forum; Dr. and Mrs. David Orimaye, former Ekiti State Chairman; Hon. Felix Ajayi; Elder David Olukoga; Hon. Ladi Vera Cruz; Hon. Muyiwa Adesua, Vice Chairman, APC UK; Pastor Magret Apoeso, Women Leader, South West; Honourable Taiwo Jegunmah, APC Women Leader; Eric Ayoola, former Pioneer Secretary, Afenifere Renewal Group; and Chief Yemi Odetola, Chairman, Afenifere Renewal Group.

Also in attendance were APC UK executives, including Honourable Tunde Ajisola and Honourable Ayokunle.

Other executive members present included Honourable Tayo Shodeinde, Chairman, Lagos State APC UK; Honourable Prince Balogun Eshinokun, Treasurer; Hon. Bola Oshin, Assistant Welfare Secretary; Honourable Shade Adebiyi, Welfare Secretary; David Orogbangba, Youth Leader; Hon. Prince Abidemi Akintunde, Vice Chairman, West; Dr. Mrs. Motolani Doherty, Senatorial Women Leader; Funmi Adenusi, Vice Chairwoman, East; Honourable Dr. Aisha Gbajabiamila, Deputy Women Leader; Honourable Alhaja Gbemisola Ademola, Women Leader; Honourable Afolabi Adebayo, Secretary; Honorable Makoyawo, Assistant Secretary; Honurable Kashif Laguda, Assistant Organising Secretary; and Honurable Bukola Apena, Financial Secretary, alongside other party loyalist members.

The dinner concluded on a note of renewed solidarity, with party members pledging not to waver in their support for APC leaders at all levels.

Speakers and attendees alike expressed confidence that the promises made by party leadership would be fulfilled, reaffirming the Lagos State APC UK Caucus commitment to advancing the party’s ideals and supporting progressive governance in Nigeria.
