Father Cries Out as Three-Year-Old Son Goes Missing in Ogun

T The family of three-year-old Rohan Ajuwon in Matogun, Ogun State, has been thrown into anguish after the little boy was abducted while playing football outside their compound on August 28, 2025.

His father, Salmon Ajuwon, a businessman and father of two, recounted the painful experience in an interview with The Punch, describing the incident as a nightmare that has left the entire household devastated.

How Rohan Disappeared

According to Ajuwon, Rohan had not been feeling well earlier that day, so they spent time together at home. Later in the evening, he left for a nearby draft spot about seven houses away, a place his son often visited.

“About five minutes later, I saw him coming towards me barefoot. I told him to go back home and wear his slippers. That was the last time I saw him,” the distraught father said.

While Ajuwon thought Rohan was with his mother, his wife believed the boy had followed his father. It was not until his wife began searching that they realised the child had disappeared.

Search Efforts and Police Involvement

The community immediately mobilised after the Baale was alerted, with posters distributed and announcements made across local platforms. The family reported the case to three different police stations, but no progress has been made.

Ajuwon said he suspected two individuals: an elderly man often seen in the area and another local man known for selling Indian hemp. Both were invited by the police but later released due to insufficient evidence.

“We provided the police with all the details, but so far, no meaningful lead has been found,” he lamented.

Family in Distress

The disappearance has taken a heavy toll on the family. Rohan’s seven-year-old sister has been crying since the incident, while his mother has struggled to cope with the loss.

The father said they had neither received ransom calls nor any information suggesting the child had wandered off. “It can’t be an accident. This is clearly a kidnapping. It has been over 15 days now,” he said.

Community and Religious Support

Both the Community Development Council (CDC) and Community Development Association (CDA) have shared Rohan’s posters, while social media users, religious groups, and well-wishers have amplified the family’s call for help.

Ajuwon revealed that both he and his wife have sought divine intervention — he at the mosque and she in church — praying for their son’s safe return.

Plea to Authorities

While expressing gratitude for community support, the father appealed for government intervention.

“I would appreciate any assistance they can render to help find my son,” he pleaded, holding back tears.

For now, the family remains hopeful that Rohan will be found and reunited with them safely.
