Adam Lawrence Returns as Manchester United U-21 Head Coach

M Manchester United have announced the return of Adam Lawrence as head coach of the club’s Under-21 team for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

The appointment was confirmed on January 28, 2026, following recent changes within the club’s academy structure. Lawrence previously worked at Manchester United between 2019 and 2021, serving as Under-18 head coach, where he played a significant role in the development of several players who have since progressed through the club’s ranks.

The club said Lawrence’s deep understanding of United’s youth system and his proven track record in player development were key factors behind the decision.

He is expected to focus on strengthening the Under-21 squad and supporting the transition of academy players into first-team football as the Premier League 2 campaign continues. Lawrence will assume his duties with immediate effect.

A statement from the club read: “Adam brings valuable experience, a strong knowledge of our academy pathway, and a proven ability to develop young players. His return will help reinforce the progression of our emerging talents.”
